Medical Emergency Preparedness Session -Taking Control of Your Healthcare Decision-Makin

Several area organizations have teamed up to bring awareness to the importance of advance care planning. Presenting organizations include Northwestern Medicine, Northern Illinois Hospice, The DeKalb & Sycamore Fire Departments, as well as the DeKalb Township. The content of the session is directed at anyone living with a chronic condition or disease, or those who know someone who is. Attendees will learn about the File of Life Initiative, the Knox Box Program, Advance Care Planning, and how to initiate difficult conversations with those they love. The sessions are designed to be both educational and empowering, and those in attendance should leave feeling more confident and prepared for a medical emergency, should one occur.

There are two sessions scheduled for this fall. The first will take place at DeKalb Public Library on Wednesday, November 20th at 6 PM. Light refreshments will be served. The second session will take place via Zoom on Thursday, December 12th at 11 AM.
