Road Maintenance

Outside of city limits, you can be sure that the DeKalb Township Road Crew is working hard to ensure the highest quality roads and service to our residents.

Vehicle Road Permits
Vehicle permits are required for overweight/over limit vehicles traveling on DeKalb Township roads.
To request an overweight permit please follow these simple steps:
- Request your permit through either our Online Request or by PDF Request.
- The online form submits automatically when you click submit.
- If using the PDF version, please email the PDF to kgumino@dekalbtownship.org and csmith@dekalbtownship.org.
- Once your request has been reviewed and approved by Highway Commissioner Craig Smith, your signed permit will be emailed to you.
** NOTE PERMITS ARE ONLY ISSUED DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS **
Please allow 24 hours for vehicle permit approval and proceed only after receiving your approved permit.
In the spring, weight postings go in effect and will be announced and road permits are not issued during those postings. Call for more information during this time if you have questions.
